TEXAS HILL COUNTRY, TEXAS, JUL 6 – The Houston Texans committed $500,000 to aid Texas Hill Country flood relief after the disaster killed 27 people, including nine children, officials reported.
- A severe storm on July 4 led to devastating floods in Texas' Hill Country near the Guadalupe River, resulting in the deaths of at least 32 individuals, among them 14 children.
- The Guadalupe River surged over 26 feet in height between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m., causing swift flooding that destroyed homes, vehicles, and impacted camps and RV parks.
- Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha emphasized that search efforts will continue relentlessly until every person is located, as officials reported more than 850 rescues and ongoing operations.
- Governor Abbott extended the state disaster declaration to cover additional counties, pledging to utilize all available resources, while bipartisan lawmakers are working to raise at least $150,000 for relief efforts.
