Tesco Announces Major Delivery Change to 'Make Shopping Easier' From Next Month
Tesco said the partnership will extend Clubcard pricing and points to more customers, as Whoosh sales rose 51% last year.
On Tuesday, Britain's biggest food retailer, Tesco, announced it will list products on Uber Eats and Deliveroo platforms starting in August, allowing customers to earn Clubcard points and access lower Clubcard Prices.
The partnership expands Tesco's existing Whoosh service, which has offered rapid grocery delivery since 2021 from around 1,800 stores, reaching more than 70% of the UK population.
Ashwin Prasad, CEO of Tesco UK, said these partnerships represent 'another important step in expanding our reach,' while Uber Eats vice president Saskia De Jongh noted the platform reaches over 90% of people in the UK.
The Institute of Grocery Distribution estimates the UK quick-commerce market reached 2.4 billion pounds, or $3.2 billion, in 2025, with Tesco's total online sales growing 11% in the 2025/26 year to 7.5 billion pounds.
Last week, Uber agreed to buy Germany's Delivery Hero for $14.8 billion to create the largest food-delivery group outside China, positioning the company to consolidate further market dominance.
