German Court Sentences Young Members of Right-Wing Extremist Group ‘Last Defense Wave’ to Prison
Seven members and one supporter received juvenile prison terms of up to five years for arson, bomb plots and terrorist organization membership, dpa reported.

- The group planned and carried out arson and bomb attacks on asylum seeker shelters and left-wing facilities, while allegedly engaging in so-called pedo-hunting and scrawling slogans like "foreigners out" on building facades.
- During an October 2024 arson attack in Altdöbern, Brandenburg, the group destroyed a cultural center; in January 2024, two members unsuccessfully attempted to ignite an asylum seeker shelter in Schmölln, Thuringia, using pyrotechnics.
- An additional planned arson attack in Senftenberg, Brandenburg, was prevented due to tips from a reporting team, and authorities detained two more teenagers in Thuringia during June for alleged membership in the group.
- Wednesday's rulings remain subject to appeal; the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court suspended the one and a half year sentence for the youngest defendant, according to German news agency dpa.
