HD Hyundai and TerraPower Sign Natrium® Reactor Supply Framework Agreement
The companies said the deal will secure a scalable supply chain and support serial production of Natrium reactor components.
On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, TerraPower signed a Natrium Reactor Supply Framework Agreement with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, establishing a scalable supply chain for serial production of reactor components.
Following a year-long joint study evaluating manufacturing feasibility and delivery schedules, the companies expanded their collaboration from First-of-a-Kind production to Nth-of-a-Kind serial manufacturing.
The Natrium technology features a 345 MW sodium-cooled fast reactor with patented molten salt storage that boosts output to 500 MW when demand peaks, with Hyundai Engineering joining to manage design, procurement, and construction.
TerraPower CEO Chris Levesque stated the agreement ensures production capacity for global plant builds, while HHI executive Kwang-shik Won called it "a critical foundation for our entry into the global nuclear market."
The first Natrium plant is under development through the Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program, supporting TerraPower's deployment across the United States and a commitment with Meta for up to eight reactors by 2035.
