Despite Return to Calm, France Remains on Edge Ahead of Planned Further Protests

Authorities said targeted curfews helped keep the night calm after more than 2,500 arrests and 123 jailings tied to the unrest.

Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu on Tuesday announced that France will impose new curfews where required, after the measures introduced in several cities the previous day had "helped keep the night calm". The Interior Ministry has announced that 123 people have been jailed in connection to the weekend's violence and looting.
