Tennessee Football vs Texas 'College GameDay' Picks From Nick Saban, Johnny Knoxville
- On Saturday, ESPN College GameDay analyst Nick Saban faced a hostile crowd at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, responding to jeers by reminding fans of his 16-1 record against the Tennessee Volunteers.
- During his 17 seasons as Alabama Crimson Tide head coach, Saban dominated the rivalry with a 16-1 record, including a 15-game winning streak from 2007 to 2021 that made him a recurring nemesis.
- From the Ayres Hall lawn set, Saban quipped, "We smoked 16 of 17 cigars when we played you all!" — a reference to Alabama's victory cigar tradition after wins over Tennessee.
- Fans greeted the former coach with boos and a profane chant, a reception ESPN analyst Pat McAfee characterized as rooted in Saban's "greatness" and the intensity of the rivalry.
- Although the Third Saturday in October matchup format has changed, the rivalry remains intensely personal, with Saban frequently entering hostile environments as a GameDay analyst since retiring from the Crimson Tide.
