Tennessee football quarterback Faizon Brandon suffers injury vs Texas
Brandon was taken to the medical tent after a designed run and later returned, with Tennessee briefly turning to George MacIntyre.
Tennessee freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon suffered a right shoulder injury early Saturday against top-ranked Texas at Neyland Stadium during a designed quarterback run in the first half.
Brandon, the centerpiece of Tennessee's offense, entered the matchup with a 3-0 start, having thrown for 552 yards and six touchdowns while rushing for 137 yards and three scores this season.
Athletic trainers escorted Brandon to a medical tent after he appeared to favor his shoulder, while sophomore George MacIntyre briefly took over the Volunteers' offense on the ensuing drive.
After spending nearly 15 minutes in the medical tent, Brandon returned to the game during the first half, resuming his role as Tennessee's starting quarterback with the score at 10-3.
Tennessee faces significant pressure hosting the top-ranked Longhorns, with ESPN's "College GameDay" broadcasting from Ayres Hall and President Donald Trump planning to attend the high-stakes matchup.
