Titans Use Special Teams Plays and Defense to Rally Past Colts 26-20 for 1st Win of the Season
Joey Slye’s late field goals capped a comeback after Tennessee forced three turnovers and scored on special teams.
The Tennessee Titans defeated the Indianapolis Colts 26-20 on Sunday, overcoming a 13-0 halftime deficit at Lucas Oil Stadium to secure their first win of the season.
Two critical special teams plays fueled Tennessee's comeback: Chimere Dike's 58-yard punt return set up a touchdown, and a blocked punt returned 14 yards by Oluwafemi Oladejo gave the Titans a 20-13 lead.
Despite 269 passing yards, Colts quarterback Daniel Jones threw two interceptions in the loss. Titans quarterback Cam Ward completed 11 of 22 passes for 102 yards with one touchdown.
Kicker Joey Slye secured the victory with a 49-yard field goal with 2:03 remaining, then added a 44-yard field goal after Tennessee got a fourth-down stop to finalize the comeback.
The 2-4 Colts travel to Minnesota next week facing mounting pressure, while the 1-5 Titans prepare to host the Cleveland Browns seeking to build on their first victory.
