Teenager Fighting for Life After Car Leaves Busy M80 in Tragic Lanarkshire Crash
Police said the 18-year-old passenger was taken to hospital after a silver Volkswagen Golf left the road and collided with a black Mercedes A200.
On Sunday, June 28, an 18-year-old female passenger sustained life-threatening injuries after the silver Volkswagen Golf she was in left the road during a collision on the M80 motorway northbound near Moodiesburn around 7pm.
Police described the crash as serious, prompting authorities to close the northbound M80 section between junctions three and four for approximately three hours while investigators examined the scene.
Sergeant Andrew Coutts of Police Scotland's road policing unit said, 'Our inquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may be able to help to get in touch,' specifically requesting dashcam footage from the collision area.
Both occupants of the Volkswagen were transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow; the female passenger receives treatment for life-threatening injuries while the 20-year-old male driver's condition is not critical.
Police Scotland continues investigating the serious crash and requests that anyone with information or useful footage contact officers on 101, quoting incident reference 2748 of June 28.
