Coronation Street Star in Tears as She Shares Heartbreaking Cancer Update
The former Coronation Street star said scans showed the lesions have not shrunk as expected, and she cannot have surgery yet.
On Thursday, former Coronation Street star Tracy Shaw shared an emotional video update revealing that her breast cancer chemotherapy treatment is not progressing as expected.
The 52-year-old actress announced her breast cancer diagnosis in April, beginning a five-month chemotherapy course designed to shrink tumors before surgery could proceed.
Ultrasound scans revealed that while some lumps were benign cysts, the lesions on her left breast changed shape rather than shrinking, prompting Shaw to say, "I thought they'd shrunk but basically they've gone from being circular to oval."
Because lesions have not shrunk, doctors cannot operate until they reduce in size, requiring Shaw to undergo "a few more rounds" of chemotherapy before surgery becomes possible.
Her update prompted an outpouring of support from fans and former Coronation Street co-stars Sally Ann Matthews and Kym Marsh, who sent messages of encouragement amid her ongoing treatment.
