Tax return via smartphone with just one click – what sounds like the future is to become reality from July onwards. A new function promises a much easier way through the tax jungle.
If you just like it, you won't need to dig your way through the tax return any more. Just a quick push on your smartphone should be enough. But not everyone is eligible for the new Elster function. And financially, it might be worth investing more work.
As of 1 July 2026, the income tax declaration in Germany is to be completely possible by smartphone for the first time. The basis is a new function within the app "MeinELSTER+", which was developed by the Free State of Bavaria on behalf of the Federal Government and the Länder.
