Tanker struck by projectiles in the Persian Gulf off Qatar
The vessel remained operational after the attack, and authorities said all crew were safe with no environmental damage reported.
- On Wednesday, a tanker was struck by two projectiles 57 miles north of Madinat ash Shamal, Qatar, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations reported Thursday.
- Separately, Iranian forces reported that 3 ships, including two oil tankers and a towboat, struck mines in the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday, though the claim could not be independently verified.
- In a separate incident, Qatar's Nakilat reported its carrier Al Mayeda was hit by unidentified objects on October 30, while the UKMTO noted last month it is "struggling to accurately report" the true number of attacks.
- South Korea's Defense Ministry proposed expanding the Cheonghae unit's operational area near Oman to address increased pirate activity, though spokesperson Chung Binna stressed they will not participate in military operations in the Strait of Hormuz.
- Chung stated South Korea would only join operations if "allowable circumstances" were created, such as an end to the war with Iran, while Qatar continues mediating between the United States and Iran with talks ongoing.
