Gasoline and diesel are now subject to lower taxes for two months. This is intended to ensure that tanks for commuters, craftsmen and others do not become even more expensive.
At many gas stations in Germany, the price per liter of gasoline dropped below 2 euros on Friday. This is due to a temporary excise duty reduction of approximately 17 cents to ease the pain of rising fuel prices caused by the war in the Middle East. This previously announced measure took effect on Friday and applies until the end of next month.
The fuel discount should make petrol and diesel cheaper from May. However, ADAC and consumer protectors warn: mineral oil companies could swallow the relief.
