It's Been Two Years Since Hurricane Milton Devastated Parts of Florida
Residents say Milton left torn roofs, flooded streets and destroyed carports, and many are still cleaning up as Florida watches another storm.
Two years after Hurricane Milton brought debris and wind damage to Florida's east coast, residents in Barefoot Bay are reflecting on their experiences as the state currently watches Hurricane Isaias.
On October 9, 2024, Hurricane Milton struck Florida as a Category 3 storm with 120 mph winds, spawning 17 tornadoes across the peninsula.
Residents in Barefoot Bay reported damage from a microburst, including destroyed carports and downed trees. "There were a few folks in the Bay that had their carports destroyed," resident Bryce Shonka said.
Florida faced 126 tornado warnings during the event, the most ever recorded from a tropical system, while flooding plagued rivers and creeks for several days after landfall.
As the community prepares for Hurricane Isaias, neighbors in Barefoot Bay are monitoring weather updates closely, recalling the debris and flooding left by Hurricane Milton.
