Taipei, July 24 (CNA) The Legislature on Friday passed a law establishing two government-funded savings accounts that will receive annual deposits of NT$60,000 (US$1,854) for citizens under age 18, in an effort to address Taiwan's declining birthrate.
The Legislative Yuan passed the "Taiwan Children and Youth Growth and Future Account Act" bill, promoted by the Kuomintang (KMT) and the Taiwan People's Party (TPP), in its third reading on the 24th.
