Switzerland has extended its sanctions against Russia.
Switzerland follows the EU in the sanctions of Russia – but it also applies them to Ukraine by emergency law.
The Swiss Government announced on Wednesday the next total ban on the purchase and import of Russian liquefied natural gas, thus aligning itself with the most recent package of sanctions imposed by the European Union, forwarded to the AFP.
Switzerland has adopted some of the EU sanctions against Russia. As of yesterday, a complete ban on the purchase and import of Russian LNG is in effect. Crypto services for Russia are also prohibited.
In Switzerland, the purchase and import of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) will be completely prohibited from 25 April 2026. The Federal Council thus joins the measures of the 19th EU sanctions package.
