The measure will be implemented in early April throughout the country. After the tragedy on 31 December, several cantons had already announced a ban on these devices in closed spaces welcoming the public.
Pyrotechnic devices will be banned in all closed public spaces in Switzerland from 1 April, announced on Friday an intercantonal organ a little more than two months after the fire of a bar in Crans-Montana which had killed 41 people.
As of 1 April, a ban on the ignition of pyros in public areas will apply throughout Switzerland.
This year, the new Swiss fire safety regulations should have come into force. Due to the fire disaster of Crans-Montana, the date is postponed to 2027. As an immediate measure, a ban on spray candles will apply from 1 April.
After the fire which killed 41 people in the "Constellation" bar on 1 January, Switzerland will ban pyrotechnic devices in all closed public spaces. The measure will enter into force on 1 April next.
