Greek Olympic swimmer Kristian Gkolomeev announced his retirement from traditional competitive swimming on Wednesday, saying he will now compete in the Enhanced Games, a controversial new event that allows the use of performance-enhancing drugs under medical supervision.
It has been announced that the first doping-free “Olympics”, the Enhanced Games, will be held in Las Vegas in May 2026. The organizers of the event, dubbed the doping Olympics, also announced a new world record: with a time of 20.89 seconds, Greek swimmer of Bulgarian origin, Krisztian Gkolomeev, broke the 50-meter freestyle record, which has been held by Brazilian César Cielo since 2009 under “normal conditions”.
