- On Sunday, armed invaders attacked six communities in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, with federal lawmaker Solomon Wombo confirming 22 corpses had been recovered by day's end.
- The latest violence adds to a series of deadly incidents across Benue State in recent weeks. On 28 July, suspected herders killed 15 people in Ugboju District; another attack on 12 July in Otukpo-Nobi left eight residents dead.
- Chairman of Ukum Local Government Jonathan Modi visited affected areas, condemning the attacks as "barbaric, senseless and unacceptable." Modi deployed security personnel and commended the Nigerian Army for their prompt mobilization to prevent further escalation.
- Governor Hyacinth Alia condemned the invasion, pledging his administration would not relent in protecting citizens. "Benue lands for Benue people," Alia warned, adding anyone attempting to intimidate residents is making a mistake.
- Federal lawmaker Wombo urged authorities to strengthen security across Sankera, emphasizing residents have a fundamental right to farm and live without fear. Community leaders continue calling for proactive operations to prevent attackers from returning to vulnerable farming communities.
