‘Survivor 51’ contestant cuts off part of thumb during show
The injury was not staged, and Booker remained in the game after the doctor cleared him, host Jeff Probst said.
On Wednesday's episode of Survivor 51, professional wrestler Brady Booker, 27, accidentally sliced off "a quarter" of his thumb while chopping wood with a machete in Fiji.
Fellow contestant Patt Cannaday held the severed thumb tip in a seashell while waiting for medical help, as Booker admitted, "I knew I was going to do something stupid like this."
Host Jeff Probst confirmed in his Field Notes that the injury was not staged and posed "no risk of having to pull him from the game."
After receiving medical clearance, Booker said in a confessional that staying on the show "was like a new life," telling the doctor, "I would kiss you."
Booker remains in the game as contestants compete for the $1 million grand prize, focusing on his goal to outwit, outplay and outlast despite the graphic injury.
