According to the Central Statistical Office (KSH), in February 2026, the average gross salary increased by 9.7 percent, the net salary by 12.0 percent, and the real salary by 10.5 percent on an annual basis. The average gross salary was 725,500 forints, and the net salary was 509,200 forints.
In February 2026, wages continued to rise in Hungary. The average gross salary of full-time employees reached HUF 725,500, while the average net salary was HUF 509,200. Year-on-year, gross salaries increased by 9.7 percent and net salaries by 12.0 percent. The faster increase in net salaries is primarily due to tax changes, especially the expansion of family benefits and the extension of personal income tax benefits for mothers.
This is also growth, but only organic.
After the January earnings spike, which included a one-off gun payment, wage data normalised in February. However, this normalisation comes as a surprise, as wage dynamics remained surprisingly high. Rapid wage outflows and input tax breaks led to double-digit annual real wage growth.
