Sungrow and Masdar Sign 7.5GWh Energy Storage System for Abu Dhabi's World First RTC Project
The project combines 5.2 GW of solar capacity with a 19 GWh battery system to deliver baseload renewable power.
On Thursday, Sungrow and Masdar signed an agreement to supply Energy Storage System and inverter solutions for the UAE's round-the-clock renewable energy project in ABU DHABI.
Developed by Masdar and the Emirates Water and Electricity Company, the RTC project combines 5.2GW of solar capacity with a 19GWh BESS to deliver baseload renewable energy at gigascale.
More than 1,000 PowerTitan liquid-cooled units will be deployed, operating on an optimized cycle of 8-hour charging and 16-hour discharging to support continuous power delivery and grid stability.
The system incorporates a liquid-cooled Silicon Carbide Power Conversion System, achieving a maximum efficiency of 99.3 percent and a system RTE of 90 percent for enhanced operational performance.
Designed to meet growing demand for uninterrupted clean power, the project serves as a replicable blueprint for integrating solar and battery storage technologies across industrial and residential applications.
