Sullivan claims Peltola is ‘still lying’ about campaign’s involvement in Alaska ballot controversy
Sullivan cites a New York Times report and says text messages show Peltola staffers tried to recruit a second Dan Sullivan to split votes.
On Sunday, Senator Dan Sullivan accused Mary Peltola of lying about her campaign's involvement in recruiting a second Dan Sullivan onto the ballot for Tuesday's election.
A The New York Times report alleged that Peltola staffers, including Chief of Staff Anton McParland, spent months recruiting the second candidate, citing text messages detailing the scheme.
Sullivan argued the "rigged and corrupt" scheme involving DCCC top officials could not have persisted for a year without Peltola's knowledge, calling her denials a "complete fabrication."
Former campaign manager Elisa Rios initially claimed Peltola knew about the plot before attempting to retract her comments, complicating the GOP senator's accusations of dishonesty.
Alaskans will see both candidates on the ballot when they head to polls Tuesday, as the controversy dominates the final days of the congressional race.
