SUFC News: Former Blades Striker Sacked by Crawley After Seven Months in Charge
The club said the move followed seven defeats in 10 league games and a home loss to Shrewsbury Town, with Kevin Blackwell taking charge immediately.
On Wednesday, Crawley Town Football Club sacked head coach Colin Kazim-Richards following the team's 3-2 home defeat to Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday. The club confirmed the departure in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The Red Devils sit bottom of League Two, six points from safety, after suffering seven losses in their opening 10 league matches. Disillusioned fans increasingly called for a change in the dugout during recent home fixtures.
Departing alongside Kazim-Richards are Assistant Head Coach Julian Gray and Director of Football Erdem Konyar. The club statement thanked the trio for their "important role in securing the club's EFL status at the end of last season."
Kevin Blackwell and Jordan Tate have been appointed as interim management, taking responsibility for first-team training immediately. They will lead the side into Saturday's home fixture against Tranmere Rovers.
The search for a permanent manager is underway to turn around Crawley's fortunes and pull the club away from the bottom of League Two. They must avoid the threat of their 16-year stay in the Football League coming to an end.
