AFAD and Kandilli Observatory announced that there have been a series of small earthquakes in the Marmara Sea, around the islands.
Prof. Dr. Osman Bektaş drew attention to the micro-earthquake activity observed at a depth of 10-13 kilometers along the Adalar and Çınarcık faults in the Marmara Sea. Bektaş stated that the activity may be related to possible creep movement in the deeper sections of the fault.
