Intern illegally snooped into 400 citizens' medical records

The Capital Region of Denmark believes that a former intern may have snooped through medical records out of curiosity.

Several citizens are now being notified that their electronic patient records have been accessed. The Capital Region of Denmark is now launching a major investigation to prevent similar cases from occurring.

A student who previously did an internship in the Capital Region of Denmark made unauthorized searches on the patient records of around 400 citizens between August 2024 and March 2025. The region writes this in a press release. According to the region, the searches "immediately" paint a picture that the student was driven by curiosity.
