Student Lili Inspired by Family's Care Secures Place to Study Medicine
She received offers from Cardiff, Liverpool and Bangor universities after clinical placements and mentoring through Coleg Cambria and SEREN programmes.
- Lili Gonzalez-Lewis, 18, secured a place to study Medicine at Cardiff Medical School after completing two years at Coleg Cambria's Yale Sixth.
- Inspired by compassionate care provided to family members, Lili gained clinical experience at Wrexham Maelor Hospital and the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, sparking her interest in surgery and anaesthetics.
- To prepare for the competitive application process, Lili credited the SEREN Wrexham Medic Programme, mock interviews, and support from tutors Nora Richardson and Olwen Kiff.
- Gareth Jones, Assistant Principal and Head of Yale Sixth, praised Lili for her commitment, stating, "We are all incredibly proud of Lili and can't wait to see what she does next." She plans to become a consultant anaesthetist.
