Rockies Rally Past Diamondbacks on Ninth-Inning RBI Hit
Stevens’ first hit of the season scored the go-ahead run as Colorado ended a three-game losing streak and snapped Arizona’s five-game win streak.
Chad Stevens delivered a tiebreaking RBI single in the ninth inning on Friday, lifting the Colorado Rockies to a 3-2 comeback victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix.
Colorado trailed for much of the game after Arizona built a 2-1 lead, but Rumfield tied the score in the eighth inning with a double off Juan Morillo.
Antonio Senzatela earned the win with scoreless relief, while Tomoyuki Sugano provided the Rockies' first quality start since May 1, allowing two runs over 6 2/3 innings.
The loss snapped Arizona's season-high five-game winning streak, and the Diamondbacks also lost outfielder Lourdes Gurriel in the sixth inning due to left hamstring tightness.
On Saturday night, RHP Zac Gallen takes the mound for Arizona against RHP Michael Lorenzen for Colorado as the series continues.
