Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert aren’t playing live with New Order "for the foreseeable future"
The band said the change is due to personal health reasons and that only Bernard Sumner, Phil Cunningham and Tom Chapman will play the Chile show.
On Monday, June 29, 2026, New Order announced that drummer Stephen Morris and keyboard player Gillian Gilbert will not tour for the "foreseeable future" due to personal health reasons.
Frontman Bernard Sumner will perform as the only original member at the Primavera festival in Santiago, Chile, in November, with touring members Phil Cunningham and Tom Chapman joining the lineup.
Founded in 1980 following Ian Curtis' death, the band's live incarnation has centered on Sumner, Morris, and Gilbert since their 2011 reunion, establishing them as defining figures in post-punk and electronic music.
New Order and Joy Division are scheduled for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later this year, though estranged bassist Peter Hook has declined to stand alongside his former bandmates at the ceremony.
Sources close to the group insist Morris and Gilbert remain part of New Order despite their absence from upcoming live shows, though the band faces uncertainty regarding its touring future.
