Steph McGovern leads UK's Vocational Day celebration
Steph McGovern will host a live event with learners, employers and ministers as organisers seek to raise the profile of vocational training.
On August 6, 2026, TV star Steph McGovern will host the UK's first Vocational Celebration Day live from Teagle, an agricultural machinery company in Truro, Cornwall.
Devised by Enginuity and EAL, the initiative aims to raise the status of vocational training and achieve parity between academic and vocational pathways in Britain.
Former Apprentice Engineer Steph McGovern, who trained at Black and Decker on Teesside, is leading the broadcast and said vocational learners are the "lifeblood of our country."
The initiative seeks to re-engage what organizers termed the "Lost Generation," following a report from Minister Alan Milburn highlighting over a million NEETs in Britain.
Streaming live on YouTube at 10am, the program Powered by Enginuity will feature young learners, employers, and government leaders from across the country.
