'Steel Across America' shares 9/11 stories through touring South Tower beam
The memorial tour will make 36 stops and end in New York City as it marks 25 years since 9/11.
On Thursday, Steel Across America arrived in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, featuring a 16,000-pound beam from the South Tower at the World Trade Center site ahead of the 25th anniversary this September.
Frank Siller began the Tunnel to Towers Foundation after his brother Stephen Siller died on 9/11 while running through a tunnel with 60 pounds of fire gear on his back saving people.
The beam connects the Flight 93 memorial in Pennsylvania to New York City and was welcomed by the first fire engine on the scene in Shanksville in 2001, linking both attack sites.
Steel Across America will make 36 stops across the country before ending its journey in New York City on September 11, sharing 9/11 stories from both Pennsylvania and the World Trade Center.
For nearly 25 years, the Flight 93 memorial has honored 40 heroes who lost their lives in Shanksville; this tour now unites those stories with the World Trade Center's legacy.
