HOUSTON (KIAH) — State jail officials are giving the Liberty County Jail just days to shut down after last week's fire and other longstanding dangerous conditions. One week ago, a fire at the jail hurt five correctional officers. That fire prompted an emergency meeting late last week, which produced an order from the Texas Commission on Jail Standards to close the jail. The jail now has less than 15 days to relocate inmates.
