PORTAGE, Wis. -- Pine Island State Wildlife Area, located just west of Portage, will be closed until further notice because of flooding, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources said Thursday.

PORTAGE, Wis. (WKOW) — Pine Island State Wildlife Area is closed until further notice due to major flooding on the Wisconsin River.

State monitoring flood levels along Wisconsin River

The Wisconsin River was at 18.9 feet as of Wednesday morning and officials project levels to rise to more than 20 feet. The river reaches flood stage at 17 feet, according to the DNR.
