Texas passes Audrii Cunningham Act to boost child protection
HOUSTON (KIAH) – A new bill named after 11-year-old Audrii Cunningham has been unanimously passed by the Texas Legislature. Cunningham was kidnapped and murdered in 2023. Don Steven McDougal is currently serving a life sentence for her death. If signed into law by Governor Greg Abbott, Audrii’s Law would require individuals convicted of child grooming offenses to be added to the Texas sex offender registry.
