Stars captain Jamie Benn again has a decision to make about whether to play another season
Coach Glen Gulutzan and Tyler Seguin want Jamie Benn to return after he finished with 15 goals in his injury-shortened season.
On Monday, Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn addressed his future during a media availability, saying he will "probably just wake up one day" and decide whether to return for an 18th NHL season.
Coach Glen Gulutzan and longtime teammate Tyler Seguin urged Benn to continue playing after the Stars fell to Minnesota in the first round, with Seguin saying "I'd obviously love to have him for one more shot."
Benn played 60 games this season on a one-year, $1 million contract with $2 million in bonuses, finishing with 15 goals and 21 assists while averaging more than 13 minutes per game, a career low.
The Stars prepare for offseason negotiations with leading scorer Jason Robertson, who can become a restricted free agent unless the team makes a $9.3 million qualifying offer by June 29.
General Manager Jim Nill previously stated Benn earned the right to remain with the Stars as long as he wants, reflecting a legacy second only to Hall of Fame center Mike Modano in franchise history.
