The City intends to take advantage of the work done on water pipes to rethink the development of Rue Saint-Catherine Est. Mayor Valérie Plante announced Friday that the street would be pedestrian throughout the year, from Berri to Papineau.


A portion of Sainte-Catherine Street East in Montreal will become a year-round pedestrian and cars will be completely banned.
The street will be refurbished with a "light ceiling" and new urban furniture.
