- On July 22, 2025, 1047 Games announced reverting Splitgate 2 to beta, laying off staff and shutting down the original servers next month.
- In their statement, the co-founders said 1047 Games acknowledged the premature launch, admitting `We launched too early` and that features were `rushed` with `boneheaded mistakes`.
- In outlining the rebuild, 1047 Games said progression will be reworked from the ground up, maps will gain more portals and monetization will be simplified.
- The studio said it made the difficult decision to reduce roles, offering severance and job placement support, while noting servers cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to maintain.
- Moving into 2026, the developer said the team will be heads down until early next year rebuilding major parts of the game and is targeting a rerelease `as early as possible` in 2026.
