Spartacus had ‘loads of fights behind the scenes’ according to one star – but don’t expect the same from sequel series House of Ashur
- On December 5, the cast and creators gathered at the Everyman at The Whiteley in west London as Spartacus: House of Ashur arrived with a 100 per cent Rotten Tomatoes score, and the UK launch will drop two episodes on December 6.
- Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight resurrected Ashur because he found the character's story interesting, prompting a sequel framed as an alternate timeline where Ashur survives Vesuvius.
- In this version of events, the Ludus becomes Ashur, played by Nick E. Tarabay's, domain after he survives, while Achillia, played by Tenika Davis, earns his notice by fending off three Roman soldiers.
- Nick E. Tarabay contrasted the productions, saying fights were happening behind scenes on the original Spartacus production and that the new generation of actors on House of Ashur are a little bit nicer.
- Twelve years after the original series ended, the Spartacus franchise returns with House of Ashur, which leans into extravagant sex and violence, and critics received five hours of a 10-part season for review.
