The U.S. team, seeded in Pot 1, will face opponents from three pots following FIFA's confederation rules to shape its 2026 World Cup group stage path.
- On Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, the Final Draw will be held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., with coverage starting at 9 a.m. ET on FOX 5 DC.
- FIFA will run the draw by splitting 48 qualified teams into 12 groups of four from four pots, with the U.S. in Pot 1 drawing teams from Pots 2, 3, and 4; FIFA rules exclude several CONCACAF nations from the same group.
- Pot 3 contains a diverse mix from Europe, Africa and Asia, including Norway, Egypt, Algeria, Scotland, Paraguay, Tunisia, Côte d’Ivoire, Uzbekistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and South Africa.
- The draw will determine the U.S. Men’s National Team’s initial path in the expanded 2026 World Cup, with some slots still undecided due to UEFA Play-offs and Intercontinental Play-offs.
- Historically, the United States men’s national team’s best World Cup finish was third in 1930, and the draw could pair them with world champions or tournament newcomers.
