- Disney previously announced a major reimagining at the 2019 D23 Expo with the ride set to close in May 2020, but the overhaul was indefinitely delayed following 2020 park closures.
- The updated version will focus on human connection, celebrating progress made through these bonds, with a new guide and all-new narration replacing the current emphasis on communication history.
