‘Presumably a Space Object’: 11-Foot Metallic Object Found in Minnesota Cornfield
State and federal officials are working to identify the 11-foot metal object and its owner, and they say it poses no danger to the public.
On Oct. 14, authorities discovered a large, scorched metallic object measuring 11 feet in diameter in a Scott Township, Minnesota cornfield; the Stevens County Sheriff described it as 'presumably a space object.'
Deputies arrived around 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 14 after receiving a report of foreign debris resting among harvested corn stalks, prompting the Stevens County Sheriff to launch an investigation.
Officials confirmed there is no danger to the public from the charred, bowl-shaped debris, which measures about 11 feet across, with no injuries or property damage reported.
The Minnesota Duty Officer was notified, and Agency officials responded to the site, taking over the investigation alongside State authorities to identify the debris's owner and arrange removal.
Authorities continue investigating how and when the object landed in the rural field as State and Agency teams coordinate to identify the structure; further information remains limited.
