Southwest Florida county sees spike in 'flesh-eating' bacteria after Hurricane Ian

The bacteria lives in warm brackish water, like standing floodwaters. Many of the infections are in Lee County, which includes Fort Myers and Sanibel Island. Hurricane Ian made landfall as a Category 4 storm on September 28. The Florida Department of Health is urging the public to take precautions.
