An eco-project to save the endangered bird species is characterized by a delicate hope and quiet wings. A floating wooden body was created for this purpose. The first southern marsh snipes that were part of the Nordens Ark and Birdlife Sweden rescue project have returned to Ottenby on southern Öland. The project has been criticized to some extent because no returnees have been seen before, but now several of the rescued birds have returned home.
