- On Friday, South Korea's Unification Ministry said it sufficiently explained to the U.S. Embassy that Unification Minister Chung Dong-young's remarks about a North Korean nuclear facility in Kusong were based on publicly available information.
- The newspaper The Dong-A Ilbo reported that Washington conveyed displeasure over the disclosure and indicated it would partially restrict sharing intelligence, citing the minister's remarks as the trigger.
- During a March parliamentary hearing, Chung identified Kusong as a third uranium enrichment site alongside Yongbyon and Kangson, basing his assessment on reports from international research institutes.
- The U.S. Forces Korea said it is 'aware' of media reports without providing details, stating it 'works alongside our ROK ally every day to deter aggression and maintain peace.'
- Chang Yoon-jeong, deputy spokesperson at the Unification Ministry, said, 'We are not aware of the U.S. side's protest,' denying knowledge of any official intelligence-sharing restrictions between the two nations.
