Babies in Germany: Sophia and Noah 2024 again popular first names

The most popular names in Germany are still Sophia and Noah. For the boys there is a traditional name as newcomer in the front places. The name Mohammed missed the top 10 list.

The Society for German Language has published the new name lists. The top ten names of the boys and girls remain unchanged at the top. One name is new, another one falls out.

Sophia or Sofia and Noah were again the most popular baby names in Germany last year. The race for the first place of the girls was clearer than in the previous year - Noah has held the top position with the boys since 2019.

Emilia and Mateo were once again the most popular first names for babies in Brandenburg in 2024. This was announced by the Society for the German Language (GfdS) in Wiesbaden.
