Some people think oysters are just for eating. Those people never met Jill, the family ‘pet’

The giant Pacific oyster was crowned Australia’s biggest and recorded at 3.01 kilograms before environmental stress left it dead, farmers said.

Bernie Connell is one of a group of Aussie farmers, including Kirk Hargreaves and Jim Yiannaros, growing the biggest Pacific oysters in the world on the Clyde River in Batemans Bay. But they’re not for eating. They’re part of the family.
