Recent letters have quibbled about the term "genocide" in Gaza when some 60,000 people have reportedly been killed (about 3% of the population) by bombs and starvation, including attacking people sheltering in hospitals and places of worship.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Sunday, said that the situation in the Gaza Strip "is no longer an imminent hunger crisis but a pure famine." This came in an address by the Chairman of the Ocha office in Geneva, Ramesh Rajasingham, to the Security Council, which is holding an emergency meeting to discuss the situation in the Middle East, in particular the question of Palestine.
