Residents of a Lithuanian village where NATO air policing fighters shot down a drone in the early hours of Tuesday described a tense night of explosions, aircraft and flashing lights that left some fearing the worst.
In the Šalčininkai district, border guards took control and landed a drone that had flown into Lithuania with cargo. Smugglers lost another drone with 200 packs of Belarusian cigarettes. This year, the VSAT officers guarding the state border with Belarus have already intercepted 56 drones.
