A VITAL 85-year-old man from the Osijek area has been hospitalized due to West Nile virus infection. A mosquito bite left him bedridden, causing him to lose strength and be unable to walk or speak.
Until yesterday, he drove his car alone, traveled dozens of kilometers and chopped wood in preparation for winter. He can't stand on his feet today.

An 85-year-old man from the Osijek area first felt weakness in his fingers and hand, and the next day he was unable to stand. This was followed by a high fever, exhaustion and dehydration, after which he ended up in the hospital.
The worried daughter doesn't know how his condition will develop further, but advises anyone who experiences unusual symptoms such as weakness, high fever or starts to feel unwell not to delay seeing a doctor.
