1 Killed, 1 Injured in Riverside County Skydiving Accident
Authorities said one skydiver died and another was critically injured, while a third was unharmed as investigators work to determine what happened.
On Thursday, May 28, 2026, one skydiver died and another sustained critical injuries following an accident in Perris, California, Riverside County authorities confirmed.
Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department personnel and Riverside County Sheriff's deputies responded to the 600 block of East Ellis Avenue, a rural area adjacent to Skydive Perris.
Lieutenant Deirdre Vickers, a Riverside County Sheriff spokesperson, confirmed deputies found a third skydiver uninjured near the 215 Freeway and 4th Street following the incident.
Emergency personnel declared one skydiver deceased at the scene, while the second individual was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, authorities reported.
Data from the U.S. Parachute Association indicate 16 civilian deaths nationwide occurred in 2025, averaging 0.46 per 100,000 jumps, while Gonzales died in a previous landing accident in Perris on Oct. 11, 2025.
